Malkangiri, Oct 13: To prevent the further spread of Japanese Encephalitis (JE), State government has announced to carry out a vaccination programme in four districts of Odisha.
Adressing the media persons after the review meeting at the Malkangiri district headquarters on Wednesday, Odisha Health and Family Welfare Secretary Arti Ahuja said that the immunization programme will begin from December in Mayurbhanj, Jajpur, Keonjhar and Malkangiri districts. For this programme, the Union Health Ministry has given its approval.
Adding further, she said that till now 79 villages in the district have been affected by Japanese Encephalitis. However, medical reports show that the condition is under control.
It may be noted that, in last 34 days, 48 children have died in Malkangiri district due to Japanese Encephalitis.
