Sum Hospital tragedy: Parents of deceased daughter decide to donate her eyes

Bhubaneswar, Oct 24: A girl named Rashmita Swain (19) who lost her life due to the fire break out that happened at the Sum Hospital on October 17, has still created a chance to help someone to see the world as her parents have decided to donate her eyes.

Commenting on this, Rashmita’s father said that she was just nineteen and deserved to see the world so a decision to donate her eyes has been taken.

Rashmita was an Arts student of Anchalika Mahavidyalaya, Barpur in Ganjam district.

As per the information, Rashmita was admitted to the Sum hospital on October 17 following rheumatic problems but the doctors there said that it is nothing serious. Unfortunately, fire broke out at the hospital that evening. She was rescued from the fourth floor of the hospital with the help of the hospital staff and was later shifted to Capital Hospital.

The next day on Tuesday, the Capital Hospital doctors stating her condition as stable, advised her parents to take her home. But on Wednesday, she was again admitted in the Capital Hospital as she felt problem in breathing. However, while undergoing treatment at the hospital, she died on Thursday.
