Bhubaneswar, Nov 28: Mercury will drop below 10 degree Celsius in interior areas of south Odisha in next three days, said the Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre Director Sarat Chandra Sahu on Sunday.

While the western part of Odisha will experience minimum temperature in between 10 and 12 degree Celsius, minimum temperature at most areas in the coastal part will vary from 14 to 16 deg Celsius, Sahu added. At present, dry and cold wind is blowing from the north-western side passing through landmass causing fall in temperature in Odisha. However, there is likely an increase in temperature in Odisha from December 1 due to change in wind pattern as an effect of a low pressure formed on the Tamil Nadu coast. More vapours will come from the Bay of Bengal towards Odisha and night temperature will increase bringing some relief to the people from cold wave.

Under the effect of the low pressure formed at the Tamil Nadu coast, few places in the south and coastal Odisha are likely to witness light rains on December 2 or 3. Intense cold had rattled Kandhamal district with Phulbani and Daringbadi yesterday recorded minimum temperature at 8 and 13.5 degree Celsius, respectively.
