Three day long Mayurbhanj festival begins in Odisha capital

Bhubaneswar, Jan 7:  On Friday, the three-day long, Mayurbhanj Utsav, organized by Mayurbhanj Cultural Association began at the Rashtra Bhasa Prachar Sabha Ground here. This time the stage has been set in accordance with the theme ‘Devakund’, a famous tourist spot of the district. The event was graced by Padma Shri award receiver Sri Praffula Kara and Ollywood industry’s famous actor Uttam Mohanty.

On its opening day, as the event started, the footfall of visitors gradually started to increase in the cold chilled evening. Many people enjoyed the event on the beats of the tribal dance of ‘Jhumra Dance’ and the food kiosk installed at the event venue doubled the visitors’ excitement as they got a chance to test the real Mayurbhanj food with the Mudhi-Mansa. Along with the various dishes of the district, one famous dish is the meat-biryani of Mayurbhanj on which people are thronging on.  Another unique dish which the people will be getting to taste here is the ‘Bamboo Meat’. The rate is said to be quite affordable for all the dishes. Food stalls are opened for the public from 3 PM and the cultural programme begins from 6 PM.

The event has also another highlight i.e, photo exhibition which depicts the culture, lifestyle of the tribal of Mayurbhanj.

With the aim to bring out the art, culture of the district to the city and to promote it, the association has been organizing this event from the past six years.
