Bhubaneswar, Feb 7: Two major power producing companies have requested the Odisha Electricity Regulatory Commission (OERC) to hike in power tariff. Regarding the same, a public hearing is to be organized ahead of the OERC today that would continue for the next 18 days in order to come out with power tariff for consumers for this year. Notably, in the previous year, as the Consumers’ Federation strongly opposed the tariff hike proposal at the public hearing, the OERC had rejected the demands of the distribution companies to increase the power tariff. Today, on the hearing’s first day itself, the Odisha Hydro Power Corporation (OHPC) and the Odisha Power Generation Corporation (OPGC) will keep their statements. The State Advisory Committee be conducting a meeting on Feb 20.
