33% less water entered Hirakud Dam built on Mahanadi river in last December in comparison to average flow in past ten years

Burla/Bhubaneswar, Feb 8: The Chief Engineer of Upper Mahanadi basin has informed the Water Resources department that 33% less water had entered the Hirakud Dam built on Mahanadi river in last December as compared to the average flow in past ten years. The Chief Engineer report further stated 0.123 million acre feet water of Mahanadi river entered the dam in December last year due to the barrages built in the upper catchment areas in Chhattisgarh.
