Bhubaneswar, Mar 14: Today the leader of opposition Narsingha Mishra upon the Bargarh farmer suicide issue created a hassle in the Odisha Assembly by moving a privilege motion against agriculture minister Pradeep Maharathy. Mishra accused Maharathy for providing false and misleading information in the house on the issue. Senior Congress leader Taraprasad Bahinipati asked for immediate suspension of Bargarh collector for providing a false report on the issue without conducting proper investigation by visiting the place and discussing with the deceased family members. Bahinipati also said that if required Maharathy should be dismissed under article 311 after proper investigation. According to sources, the deceased farmer had a debt burden of Rs 19,000 which he had taken for cabbage and paddy cultivation in his three and half acres of land. But unfortunate crop loss due to scarcity of water made Hadu Bagarti go into mental depression thus resulting in suicide on Feb 26.
