Bhubaneswar, Mar 19: While addressing the 146th State level Bankers Committee meeting at Bhubaneswar, Finance Minister PK Amat, in order to enhance cash / credit flow to agriculture and allied sectors, has asked commercial banks to open up their service to the unbanked gram panchayats.
For financial inclusion, linkages from deposit to credit and from credit to economic activity is very crucial, added Amat. As per RBI data, credit deposit ratio of commercial banks in Odisha was around 42% in the 2014-15 fiscal, as compared to the all India ratio of 73 percent. He urged to the banks to rise to the occasion and achieve the credit potential ratio fixed by the NABARD to a tune of Rs 66,555 crore by 2017-18 fiscal.
