85% of private medical college seats to go under government counselling scanner

Bhubaneswar, Mar 24: In a certain notification, the state government has decided to conduct counselling for 85% of the seats in all private medical colleges to bring transparency in admission process and to curb illegal practices.

Acting as per the guidelines of the central government, a notification indicating this was sent to the Skill Development and Technical Education department by the State Health Department. The step will leave the private medical institutions with only 15% seats, for which they can conduct their own counselling.

Common counselling for admission into MBBS and BDS courses in private medical colleges and Deemed universities will be conducted from the current academic session. As per the notification, though the fees for the colleges are yet to be finalised, the seats will be filled up through the All India Entrance Examination ranks. Prior announcement on everything will be done before the admission process starts.
