SLBC orders member banks for faster delivery of loans under MSME within current fiscal

Bhubaneswar, Mar 24: A review meeting was held on the success of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) here on Thursday where the member banks have been directed by the State Level Bankers’ Committee (SLBC) to provide faster delivery of loans in the next few days of the current fiscal. Odisha MSME minister Jogendra Behera said that the State had planned to give loans to 3,000 persons under Prime Minister Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) in the financial year 2016-17. But only 1,100 PMEGP loans have been sanctined by banks out of which loans have been disbursed for just 100 interested applicants. Hence, it has been decided to disburse at least loans to them whose proposals have been sanctioned asap. Principal Secretary, MSME informed the media that under Mudra Loan Scheme, Rs 6,501 crore as financial help has been approved for MSME in order to loan more than 22 lakh proposals. Credit Guarantee Fund Trust For Micro and Small Enterprises (CGTMSE) has Rs 775 crore to meet the demands of MSME applicants. 157 independent branches of banks have been opened across Odisha to give out loans under MSME and banks who are functioning in Odisha and are yet to open their branch have also been intimidated to open by Apr 1 by the officials.
