Bhubaneswar, Apr 10: Today The Orissa High Court issued directions to the State Election Commission (SEC) for conducting Zilla Parishad president elections in Malkangiri. Of the 13 Zilla Parishad zones in Malkangiri, elections to the two zones are yet to be conducted. The order is to conduct elections in 18 gram panchayats of Chitrakonda I & II zones in Malkangiri. Earlier, the SEC issued stay order to the two ZP zones of Chitrakonda block upon getting a joint report from the district collector and superintendent of police that said to put hold on polls in the block as the safety of the candidates, voters and officials is under stake. During the recently concluded panchayat polls, BJP captured 10 ZP zones and BJD managed to win just one seat in Malkangiri.
