Baripada, May 15: On Sunday, the Betnoti Police arrested a tribal boy for raping and murdering his 72-year-old mother by getting drunk. The name of the boy is Hari Marandi (45). It so happened that he dragged his old mother inside the house when she was brooming ahead of the house at Dambaru Dahar village under Baisinga police limits in Mayurbhanj on Saturday morning. The woman however managed to escape from the boy’s hold but he again dragged her and resulted in raping her in a dreaded condition. An eye-witness said that he saw the accused dragging his mother inside. Later, he saw the boy taking out her clothes and then raping her in the verandah. The incident happened when the other family members were away. Hira has been held under Sections 376 and 302 of the IPC under rape and murder. Betnoti Sub-divisional Police Officer Dhirendra Nanda informed this to media. Marandi was produced at a local court on Sunday.
