Odisha: Police registers a case against a man for allegedly giving tripple talaq to his wife

Balasore: August 18: A Muslim woman of Pathana Mahala village within Soro Police limits of Balasore district lodged a FIR in Soro Police Station accusing her husband of giving her instant divorce when she requested for money to celebrate Bakrid. Accordingly, Soro Police registered a case against her husband for allegedly giving instant tripple talaq to wife.

Reso Khatun, the victim, met the Collector of Balasore and submitted written complaints detailing her suffering. Further, Collector has directed the Soro IIC to register a case and initiate a probe into it.

Reso alleged, she married Sahim Khan in the year 2016 as per Muslim rituals. Her family had given Rs 80,000 as dowry besides furniture and ornaments worth Rs 2 lakh to Sahim’s family.

After a year or so of their marriage, Sahim allegedly developed a love affair with his uncle’s daughter and started to torture her mentally & physically. Reso’s in-laws also did not support her, Reso alleged.

Reso further alleged, she was forced to abort her pregnancy at four months and one night, her husband and his family members tried to kill her by pressing a pillow on her face.

Situation forced Reso to leave the house and after few days, she returned back and started staying in her in-laws’ house, but her husband disconnected the power supply to her room, she alleged.
