Bhubaneswar: August 29: Odisha Chief Minister conferred Biju Patnaik Sports Award to World Champion in Para Badminton Pramod Bhagat and Angul’s girl Shrimati Bhadra was felicitated with the Biju Patnaik Bravery Award.
Sprint Queen Dutee Chand, Weight lifter Bhakta Ram, Babulu Munda, Jhili Dalabehera and Sneha Soren were also awarded for their outstanding achievements in Sports.
Dutee Chand was rewarded for winning gold medal in 100 Metre Event in 30th World University Games whereas Babulu Munda was awarded for winning Silver Medal in Jr.Asian Wushu Championship this year.
Weight Lifter Bhakta Ram Desti was rewarded for winning Gold Medal in 49 Kg.Youth U17 Championship 2019, Weight Lifter Jhili Dalbehera for winning Gold Medal in 45 kg women event in Commonwealth Weightlifting Championship 2019 and Sneha Soren received award for winning Silver Medal in 45 Kg. U20 Women Event in Commonwealth Weightlifting Championship 2019.
KIIT University was award for best contribution to the promotion of Sports and Games.
For Social Service, Radhakant Tripathy (Bhadrak), Badri Mishra (Puri), Mahendra Joshi (Nuapada), Kamakshya Majhi (Koraput), Ram Dash (Bolangir) and Abdul Khan (Keonjhar) were awarded.
The Biju Patnaik Sports Award is the highest award instituted by the Odisha Government since 2001-2002.
