Sukinda, December 17, 2015: Sukinda Chromite Mine (SCM) of Tata Steel located in Jajpur district of Odisha has won the prestigious CII ITC Sustainability Award 2015 for Excellence in Corporate Social Responsibility and CII Industrial Innovation Award 2015 in two separate functions held at New Delhi on Dec 15.
Tata Steel received this award for significant contribution towards inclusive growth in its area of operation. Around its operation in Sukinda, the Company has been relentlessly working for the overall development of people in the field of health, education, livelihood, women empowerment, sports and rural infrastructure.
D B Sundara Ramam, Executive-In-Charge, Ferro Alloys and Mineral Division (FAMD), Tata Steel received this coveted award on behalf of the company.
Sukinda Chromite Mines, Tata Steel has also been conferred with the CII Industrial Innovation Award 2015 as one of the Top 25 Innovative Organisations during CII Innovation & Entrepreneurship Summit 2015 for innovation effort in the areas of mines Safety, Energy Conservation and Product Quality by creating a culture of innovation.
Mohit Rai, Manager, Maintenance, COB Plant, Sukinda Chromite Mine received the award on behalf of the company from Prof. Anil Gupta, Executive vice Chair, National Innovation Foundation.
This year, 180 companies from different sectors across India had applied for this prestigious award.
