A Medical student Nirupama Nanda of Bhima Bhoi Medical College & Hospital (BBMCH) in Balangir, was found dead at the ladies hostel of College late on Wednesday night.
As informed by Dean Dr. Sabita Mohapatra, deceased Nirupama Nanda’s hostel mate got a call from an ‘unknown number’, moments before she was found dead inside the room.
The caller asked Nirupama’s hostel mate to check whether she was alright or not, the dean said.
Dr. Sabita Mohapatra said, ‘ I got information about the happening at around 11.45 PM and rushed to Hostel. As i was informed, Nirupama and her hostel mates were watching cricket on a mobile phone in a room adjacent to her room. later, all went to their rooms for dinner.’
“Nirupama’s Hostel Mate received a call in that night. The caller asked her to enquire about Nirupama’s condition. As she went towards Nirupama’s room and found the door locked from inside. Also, she went on knocking the door, but there was no response from inside. After unlocking the the room, all went inside the room and found her dead.’ Dean said.
Also, the inmates saw that, Nirupama’s body was hanging from the window of the room with a dupatta. She had already died’.
Getting information, her family members reached the spot. The body was recovered by police and taken to the Bhima Bhoi Hospital, where the death was confirmed by a doctor.
The reason is yet to be known. But, her father alleged that, she was murdered.
Police is investing on the incident.
