Naveen Announces Third Phase Of Covid Financial Assistance
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik announced special Covid-19 assistance of Rs 3,000 to each street vendors through video conferencing today. 110,000 street vendors in urban areas of the state, will be benefitted with this financial assistance.
Earlier in June this year, the CM had sanctioned an amount of Rs 26.29 crore as Covid-19 assistance for street vendors in urban areas to deal with the COVID-19 lockdown. On March’2020 also, the state government had announced financial assistance worth Rs 3,000 to each street vendors across 114 urban local bodies.
CM also announced that the Government has decided to create vending zones in 70 urban areas across the state with an investment of Rs 60 crore.
Addressing street vendors present in various districts of the state on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that Covid has affected everyone’s livelihood. I have felt the pain of yours. I want to say that the government is always with you. ‘
The Chief Minister further added, ‘this assistance will protect your livelihood’. Roadside vendors are an important part of urban economy. Even though there are big malls and shops in Cities, the importance of street vendors will always be there, CM said.
