Bhubaneswar: Odisha Governor Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati has underscored the need for increased awareness of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 among faculty members.
He made this observation during a review meeting of the Higher Education Department at the Raj Bhavan, here.
The meeting was attended by Higher Education Minister Suryabanshi Suraj and senior officials, including Secretary Arvind Agrawal.
Agrawal provided a comprehensive overview of the state’s higher education landscape through a PowerPoint presentation. He detailed the status of universities, government and government-aided colleges, enrollment figures, and key challenges in the sector. The presentation also highlighted the government’s strategic initiatives to enhance education quality, upgrade infrastructure, and expand digital learning.
Kambhampati noted that many faculty members remain unaware of the key aspects of NEP 2020.
“They should also be made aware,” he emphasized, urging for targeted training programs to facilitate its seamless implementation.
The discussion also covered faculty recruitment, curriculum modernization, and industry-academia collaboration. The government aims to strengthen university governance, promote research, and encourage skill-based learning to better equip students for future careers.
Commending the efforts of the Higher Education Department, Governor Kambhampati reiterated the need for continuous reforms to build a more robust and inclusive education system in Odisha.
