Bhubaneswar, Mar 30: Today activists of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) gheraoed the Higher Education Minister Pradeep Panigrahi’s residence here in protest of the alleged irregularities in scholarships distribution. Activists had a face off with police personnel following which the cops detained a few of them. The ABVP protested thus demanding constitution of a judicial inquiry commission to probe the scholarship scam and release of the audit report. The protesters also alleged that around 50 cr from the funds meant for meritorious students in the state have been misused by ministers, administrators and political leaders. The ABVP State secretary Abhilash Panda informed to media. But the state government has still not formed a judicial commission to investigate the matter. The activists have warned that unless the accsed are not taken behind bars and also scholarships are not given to the eligible candidates, the protest would continue for indefinite period.
