GOPALPUR, OCTOBER 28: Mumbai-based Sure Safety Solutions Pvt. Ltd. (SSS) in collaboration with UK-based Megitt Defence will be setting up a manufacturing unit of Aerial Target Products for defence purposes at Gopalpur Industrial Park of Tata Steel in Ganjam district.
Sure Safety Solutions, a defence technology products maker having expertise in manufacturing and integration of equipment in the field of Electronic Warfare, Optical Tracking Systems and Training Simulators which are required for the modernization of Armed forces, will invest Rs 50-60 crore in the assembly plant which will be built over 5 acres of land under the ‘Make in India’ scheme. The project will begin with an assembly line for aerial targets, followed with servicing Meggitt’s more than $50 million order procured from Indian Ministry of Defence for aerial targets.
The groundbreaking ceremony for the first assembly line shed was held today inside the Gopalpur Industrial park being developed by Tata Steel Special Economic Zone Ltd. in presence of Industry Minister Debi Prasad Mishra, along with Dr Pradeep Panigrahy, Minister, Higher Education, Science & Technology, Lt General Mr Saighal, Army Air Defence College Commandant, Arun Misra, Vice-President, Project Gopalpur & MD, Tata Steel Special Economic Zone Ltd, Rajiv Kumar, Vice President, Operations, Tata Steel (Kalinganagar Project), Anant Bhalotia, Managing Director, Sure Safety Solutions Pvt. Ltd, Peter Longstaff, MD, Meggitt Defense Systems Ltd., UK, Chris Hilder, Head of Business Development, Meggitt Defence Systems Ltd., UK, Sushanta Mishra, Chief, Gopalpur Project and other dignitaries.
Speaking on the occasion, Arun Misra said, “This is a bright beginning for us and we look forward to many more such investments and opportunities in this industrial park in coming days.”

We are committed to establish this region as the next industrial hot spot of the state of Odisha and this occasion marks the first step in this regard,” he added.

Tata Steel Special Economic Zone Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Tata Steel Ltd. is developing an Industrial Park at Gopalpur in Ganjam district which will not only facilitate industrial development in the region but also contribute to the holistic development of the area. Recently, 1235 acres of this land has been registered in the name of Tata Steel SEZ in the first phase.
