Bhubaneswar, Dec 7: AVM (Air Vice Marshal) OP Tiwari, Assistant Chief of Air Staff along with Air Commodore RS Mehndiratta, President, Central Airmen Selection Board called on Shri Naveen Patnaik, Chief Minister of Odisha and briefed him about the steps taken by Air Force to recruit the youth of Odisha into Indian Air Force (IAF). The two officers also visited No. 9 Airmen Selection Centre, Bhubaneswar, on Tuesday.

The AVM apprised Shri Patnaik about the special recruitment drive that is being organised by the IAF at Bhawanipatna, Kalahandi from 14 to 20 Dec this year, to enhance representation from the Western regions of Odisha which is quite low as compared to most other regions of the country.  The recruitment drive is expected to motivate the youth from that region to join the IAF and also become part of a nation building exercise.

The AVM also discussed with Shri Patnaik the potential of ex-servicemen towards society development and how they could be gainfully utilised by the State towards skill development of the young rural population. The Chief Minister welcomed the suggestions put forth by the AVM and promised to pursue the matter at an appropriate level.
