Bhubaneswar, June 21: Today, suspected terrorist Abdul Rehman will be produced before the Salepur JMFC court. He had been escorted to Odisha by the Special Task Force of the Crime Branch for enquiry. Crime Branch sources say Rehman was brought from Delhi’s Tihar Jail by the STF with tight security on a 14-day remand.

It’s been further added that Rehman is likely to be interrogated about his links in the state and also over his investment to run a Madrassa which, since two years, was running at Tangi, 25km from Cuttack for which he had also appointed five teachers.

Notably, Maulana Abdul Rehman (37) a suspected terrorist alleged to be a member of the Al-Queeda in the Indian Subcontinent had been earlier arrested by a joint team of the special cell of Delhi Police and Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Commissionerate from his house at Paschima Kachha village under Jagatpur police on December 16, 2015. This special team got to know about Rehman’s links with the al-Qaeda group after tracking his telephone call records. He was produced in a local court in Cuttack, following which the Delhi police team took him on transit remand. Rehaman holds a Ph.D in Arabic and Islamic studies from Deobandh University in Sahranpur.
