Bhubaneswar, Nov 28: After Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s address on ‘action against benami properties’, a message has gone viral on social media with reference to ‘e-property passbook’ (EPPB). According to the message, from April 1, 2017, all properties of a person will become invalid for one year and he/she won’t be able to sell or buy any until properties are not registered in the ‘e-property passbook’. The ‘e-property passbook’ will be linked to the person’s PAN card, the message said.
The viral message however has been received positively by government officials, experts and realtors. The message further said the owner of a property has to personally report with ownership proof to Sub Registrar office where special officers will enter all the property details in the EPPB. Once listed in the EPPB, the properties will become valid.
It read that till March 31, 2018, all the properties will be entered in the EPPB and the government will take over those properties which are not entered in the ‘passbook’. Government officials however are of the opinion that this will bring transparency in the system.
