Cuttack: The BJP has called for a 12-hour shutdown in Cuttack today. BJP workers staged a protest in Cuttack Badambadi despite torrential rains. There have also been protests in various parts of the city. Cuttack has been called off, but the city has been hit hard by torrential rains. Protests are raging in Cuttack over the government’s decision to keep the 6-foot-tall statue in Parwan. In protest, the Bharatiya Janata Party in Cuttack called for a 12-hour curfew from 6 am to 6 pm today.
Yesterday, the Railway Auto Association also decided to stop the traffic. This morning the BJP party workers have stopped buses at Badambadi and created a ruckus.
BJP Call For 12-Hour Bandh At Cuttack
Cuttack city BJP president Lalatendu Badu said all shops, markets and vehicles were closed on Monday in view of the sentiments of the people. Ambulances and all other emergency services continue. “Everyone is asking for permission to increase the height of the statue and to visit the mother,” he said.
The city of Cuttack has been inundated by torrential rains. Most parts of Cuttack are now flooded due to two days of heavy rains. At Badambadi, a major part of the city, heavy rains have led to water logging and thus traffic jams, across the city. In other parts of the city, homes are flooded. As a result, traffic was light at this time of night.
