Amidst prolonged farmers strike, A farmer commits suicide in Jajpur, unable to pay loans

Jajpur, Dec 15: When farmers along with the state government were busy in solving the issues of demonetization a farmer, unable to repay his Farmer loans committed suicide today at the Kaduabandi Village in the district.

Identified as Pankaj Kumar Nayak (51) of Kaduabandi village in Jajpur, the deceased left a note stating about the cause of his suicide as unable to pay the farmer loans. Pankaj was working with private company GS Atwal and Co as a driver, but since 3 months he hasn’t got his salary. On the other hand he had taken a loan of Rs 27,000 in 2011 from the Kalarangiata branch of SBI, which he was unable to pay from past 6 months. Leading to the miserable life, which he was living, he committed suicide, said family members. Pankaj body was found hanging onto a mango tree about half a kilometer from his house.

Kin blame the private company he was working as the reason for his death, while police have started the investigation to this case.
