Bhubaneswar, Feb 13: Eminent playback singer Anuradha Paudwal will receive the ninth Prafulla Kar Samman, according to a release issued by the Prafulla Kar Foundation on Friday.
The Samman comprises Rs 1 lakh cash prize and a citation. Paudwal will be conferred the honour during the 77th Birth Anniversary celebration of Kar, an illustrious singer of the State.
Foundation functionaries said Kar’s birth anniversary will be celebrated in a two-day function at Rabindra Mandap beginning February 15. The award ceremony will be followed by a rendition by Paudwal and vocalist Mahaprasad Kar.
Noted singers Pranab Pattanayak and Chitta Jena will perform classical songs sung and composed by Kar on the second day of the event.
