Bhubaneswar, July 29: On being appointed to make the necessary changes in the management of the Lord Jagannath temple in Puri, the head of the one-member commission appointed by the state government, Justice BP Das said that the reforms should be implemented keeping in mind the Record of Rights (RoR) of the temple of with the demand of the time keeping in mind.
He will be able to comment as to what type of reforms will be undertaken only after going through the existing RoR in detail, he added. Refuting the charges that the government is helpless before the servitors, Justice Das remarked that if such is the situation then a panel was not required to be established. A final report can only let down as to what steps will be taken thus stating at the end that none of the people has the power to neither threat the devotees nor the government.
Notably, after the Niladri Bije fiasco on July 17, the Odisha government decided to form the commission, which would give suggestions on disciplined rituals, security arrangements, disciplined darshan for devotees, training and education to servitors, conservation of heritage and propagation of the Jagannath culture.
