Cuttack: President Droupadi Murmu has appointed senior Justice Arindam Sinha to perform the duties of Chief Justice of Orissa High Court in Cuttack, informed the Appointments Division of the Union Ministry of Law and Justice.
As per the notification issued by the department, President has appointed Justice Arindam Sinha to perform duties of Chief Justice of Orissa High Court with effect from January 20 following the retirement of Justice Chakradhari Sharan Singh, Chief Justice, Orissa High Court on January 19.
:In exercise of the powers conferred by Article 223 of the Constitution of India, the President is pleased to appoint Shri Justice Arindam Sinha, Judge of the Orissa High Court to perform the duties of the office of the Chief Justice of that High Court with effect from 20.01.2025 consequent upon retirement of Shri Justice Chakradhari Sharan Singh, Chief Justice, Orissa High Court on 19.01.2025,” read the notification of the Union Law and Justice Ministry.
It is to be noted here that Odisha Governor Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati and CM Mohan Majhi bade farewell to the Chief Justice in the presence of host of guests at Lok Seva Bhawan Convention Centre on Thursday.
Who is Justice Arindam Sinha?
- Justice Arindam Sinha was born in West Bengal on September 22, 1965. After completing his education in Law, he registered himself as a lawyer on March 11, 1991.
- He worked at Calcutta High Court for 22 years and successfully handled several cases especially the civil, commerce and constitutional cases.
- On October 30, he was appointed as the additional justice of Calcutta High Court and became a permanent justice of the Calcutta High Court on March 14, 2016 before he was transferee to Orissa High Court on October 8, 2021. Since then, he has been tirelessly and successfully conducting hearing of cases.
