New Delhi: It is a matter of great pride for the people of entire Odisha that Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer Arun Kumar Sahu of the state has been appointed as the next Ambassador of India to the Republic of Bulgaria, informed the Ministry of External Affairs on Wednesday.
“Shri Arun Kumar Sahu (IFS: 1996), presently Additional Secretary in the Ministry, has been appointed as the next Ambassador of India to the Republic of Bulgaria,” said a notification issued by the Ministry. “He is expected to take up the assignment shortly,” he added.
The 1996 batch IFS officer who hails from Odisha’s Deogarh is the present Additional Secretary in the Ministry of External Affairs since September 2022. He had earlier served as Ambassador of India to Trinidad, Tobago.
It is to be noted here that Sahu completed his schooling from Ravenshaw Collegiate School in Cuttack and Chandra Sekhar Behera Zilla School in Sambalpur. Later, he did his higher studies at erstwhile Ravenshaw College. Besides, he has done his master’s degrees in the fields of War in Modern World and Linguistics from King’s College London and Jawaharlal Nehru University in New Delhi respectively.
