Bomb attack on Athagarh MLA’s residence a case of past enmity: Accused caught

Cuttack, May 25: The bomb attack at Athagarh MLA Ranendra Pratap Swain’s residence earlier this week was nothing but case of previous enmity, said Cuttack DCP Sanjeev Arora during a press meet today. However the police has arrested the two bike borne miscreants who had hurled bomb at the MLA’s residence and is interrogating them, he added.

As per the prelim investigation, the accused identified as  Riyaz Khan of Oriya Bazar and Naim Baksh of Diwan Bazaar, earlier had enmity with the nephew of the MLA, Amarendra Swain, due to which they took the step.

The police has seized two bombs and a motor bike from their possession.

Notably, two bike-borne miscreants had hurled a bomb at the residence of the Athagarh MLA Ranendra Pratap Swain late night on 22nd of May near the Chandini chowk square in the city. After creating the crime, the miscreants fled the spot. Though no loss of property or life had reported, but a case was registered at the Lalbag Police station.
