Bhawanipatna, Mar 21: A widow was suffocated to death by some unknown miscreants at Sector 2 area of Mukhiguda under Jayapatana police station area in Kalhandi here. The name of the woman is Shantilata Bewa. It so happened that the miscreants entered the home late last night and locked the room from outside while the grandson and grand daughter were asleep. The miscreants tried to snatch the necklace, chain and ear rings she worn. On resisting, Bewa was strangulated to death her after which the miscreants fled the spot. As per the police, the miscreants must be given Rs 4 lakh for this following which they hatched a plan to loot the amount. However, the elderly woman had deposited the money in bank a day after the withdrawal. Investigations has begun and the body pf the woman has been sent for post-mortem.
