Bhubaneswar, Dec 27: After the bail pleas of Mahimananda Mishra, managing director of Orissa Stevedores Limited (OSL) and his close aide Basant Bal were rejected by the court, the duo were sent to Samagol Jail, Jagatsinghpur today.
Before producing them in the court, both were kept in Paradip police station till Monday. Today, they were produced before the Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC), Kujang in connection with Murder of the Seaways Shipping and Logistics Limited (SSLL)’ General manger, Mahendra Swain. The bail applied by the both their lawyers had been rejected by the court.
The Court permitted to take the duo on a four-day remand instead of five days as asked by the Jagatsinghpur police. Arrested on Sunday from Thailand, Mishra and Bal were brought back to Bhubaneswar by the Odisha police on Monday.
Post the murder of Mahendra Swain on Oct 26, the duo had escaped to Kathmandu. Later, a non bailable warrant was issued against the duo by the Kujang court on Friday. Sources said, on a 15 days tourist visa the duo had arrived at Bangkok from Nepal.
