Paradip, Nov 19: Earlier today the supporters of congress leader Bapi Sarkhel burned down the streets, and staged road blockages at Kujang in Jagatsinghpur district protesting his arrest. Road blockage was also seen on the cuttack-paradip road by members of the congress SC cell. But later after the police intervention it was called off. Eight platoons of police force were deployed at various places to avoid any adverse situation.
Other way round, near over hundred workers under the banner of the Paradip-Erasama Industrial Development Council showcased cease-work agitation here. The activists demanded Sarkhel’s unconditional release, stating his arrest as injustice.
Police on Friday arrested and produced Bapi Sarkhel before the Kujang JMFC, in connection with the murder of an official of a shipping company at paradip. He was later sent to jail as his bail plea was rejeted.
