Bharatpur Row: DGP Lifts Suspension of 4 Cops

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Director General of Police (DGP) YB Khurania has revoked the suspension of four police personnel in connection with the sensational Bharatpur police station case, where a serving army officer and his fiancée were allegedly assaulted last year.

The four cops, whose suspension has been lifted with immediate effect are Ex- Sub-Inspector Baisalini Panda of Bharatpur PS of Police Commissionerate, Ex-WASI Salilamayee Sahoo of Bharatpur PS of Police Commissionerate, Ex-WASI Sagarika Rath of Bharatpur PS of Police Commissionerate and Ex-Constable/1208 Balaram Hansda of Bharatpur PS of Police Commissionerate.

However, the suspension of the then inspector-in-charge (IIC) of Bharatpur police station, Dinakrushna Mishra, is yet to be lifted. The five police personnel were suspended by the DGP on charges of assaulting an Indian Army officer and his fiancée when they reached the Bharatpur police station to register complaint after being intercepted and misbehaved by around 12 people near Patharagadia in the late hours of September 15 in 2024.
