Bhubaneswar: June 27: The Bhubaneswar Special Court on Tuesday awarded life imprisonment to former Gunupur MLA Ramamurthy Gamango in connection with the murder of his wife.
Saturday, a special court in Bhubaneswar convicted former Odisha legislator Ramamurthy Gomango of murder and destruction of evidence, nearly 28 years after the death of his wife.
After hearing from 11 witnesses, reviewing 15 documents, and considering a number of circumstantial evidence, the court announced its ruling.
The unnatural death case was then filed with the Kharavela Nagar police. Later, they elevated the investigation to murder and filed murder and destruction of evidence charges against the accused under Sections 302 and 201 of the Indian Penal Code.
Ramamurthy had previously feigned ignorance, claiming that his wife had committed suicide and that he had no connection to the case.
