Biopic on Anna Hazare hits theatres on Oct 14; first teaser releases tomorrow

Mumbai, Sep 14: The most expected biopic on veteran Gandhian and social campaigner, Kisan Baburao Hazare, popularly known as Anna Hazare, has completed its shoot and is all ready to be released on October 14 all over India said the film’s producer, Manindra Jain, on Tuesday.

The name of the movie is “Anna: Kisan Baburao Hazare” and is a 130 minute long hindi movie which has been shot for over a year at locales in his native village Ralegan-Siddhi in Ahmednagar (Maharashtra), Mumbai, New Delhi, Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh and Rajasthan.

It’s stated that the first exclusive teaser of the movie will release on Sept 15, tomorrow which would be followed by extensive promos on TV, as special appearances for “The Kapil Sharma Show”, “Taarak Mehta ka Ulta Chashma” and many more having Anna’s presence. In this film, 79-year old Anna’s life history will be pictured who is a revered social person. The story starts right from his childhood days, his stint with Indian Army, his attempt to commit suicide once, his post-Army struggles within and outside, his rural transformation experiences starting with Ralegan-Siddhi, his nationalistic ‘India against Corruption’ movement culminating in several laws like RTI and Lokpal legislations.

The Film is produced under the banner, Rise Pictures Private Limited and directed by Shashank Udapurkar. It’s the directorial debut of Udapurkar who would enact the main protagonist’s role in the movie. He is a Marathi actor and has also given the dialogues of the movie along with the screenplay. Actress Tanisha Mukherjee will play the role of a young journalist who captures Anna’s social-political travails in the biopic, having three Hindi songs. The biopic will be later dubbed in English to reach the international audiences and also in other regional Indian languages in order to take his message to all corners of the nation.

The film-makers have also planned to conduct a special campaign in Gujarat on October 2 which marks the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, in Gandhinagar along with Anna’s presence.
