Bhubaneswar, Mar 11: In connection to the murder of Biranchi das, the trainer of Budhia Singh, the Supreme Court granted bail to Raja Acharya, the prime antagonist in murder of the Judo coach to which late Das’ wife, Geetanjali Panda alleged life threats to her and five other witnesses and thus demanded security for all.  Panda told the media that she was shocked to know that the prime convict was bailed even after she along with the five witnesses had clearly stated that it was Raja who was behind the murder. She also said that apart from Raja getting bailed, from the past two months, the security cover over her family and her and also over the witnesses had been removed. On asking about its reason, nothing was discreetly said in spite of the fact that may it would be the orders of the government. She lastly went on to state that the fact that Raja gets bailed out makes her family and her very insecure. Panda said she would move for a special counsel to apply on the case again.

On the other hand, Leslie Tripathy with whom Biranchi had a one sided love affair also said that she would ask for a security cover for her family through a written application after alleging life threats even to her and her family.

Notably, Biranchi Das was murdered on Apr 13, 2008 by Raja Acharya for his one sided love affair with Leslie. The same year, Raja was arrested by the Badagada police from Goa, the PS where the murder case was registered. In 2011, Bhubaneswar District and Sessions Court convicted Raja in the case and sentenced him to life imprisonment.
