Bhubaneswar, Dec 30: The Biju Janta Dal (BJD) has been hijacking central government schemes by naming the scheme on its name to mislead the public, alleged Odisha BJP unit on Thursday.

Samir Mohanty, Vice President of BJP, in a press meet stated, to gain public support for the party, the ruling BJD has used the housing scheme ‘Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana’ initiated by the Union Government and has presented the scheme as its own, ahead of the Panchayat Poll elections by replacing ‘Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana’ to ‘Awas Yojona. This has been done intentionally to misguide the public and to make them believe that it is a state government’s scheme.

Adding more to this, he said that, the data regarding the Biju Pakka Ghar Yojana presented by the state government in the Assembly was also incorrect. The Central Government has funded for about 80% of the houses built under the scheme.  The data collection process regarding the scheme is still on, as cleared by the Panchyat Raj Department.

However, Amar Prasad Sathpathy, Spokesperson of BJD in his comment said that, implementation of project is important, not who funded it. For the poor the name has no meaning.
