BJD MLA accompanies Odisha CM on his visit despite protests in Kendrapada, Odisha; accepts ex-min’s challenge

Kendrapara, Nov 8: Despite protest by a handful of supporters of Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak, who recently resigned as Health minister in the aftermath of Sum Hospital fire tragedy, MP Baijayant Panda attended the public meeting with chief minister Naveen Patnaik at Mahakalpada in the district today. Some associates of the former Health minister clashed with police soon after the MP reached the meeting venue. However, thousands raised slogan in support of the parliamentarian.

Meanwhile, BJD vice-president and Minister Damodar Rout called the incident as most ‘indecent’. On the other hand, Nayak ignored the protest made by the the local Lok Sabha members.

BJD MP Baijayant Panda today had accepted the challenge from former health minister Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak’s camp, which openly threatened the parliamentarian to prevent him from attending chief minister’s programme at Mahakalapada in the district today. Obviously referring to the ex-minister, who is representing Mahakalapada Assembly constituency, Panda said Nayak’s camp threatened him against participation in CM event. The MP further said that he is not afraid of goons and has vowed to attend CM’s programme under any circumstances. Meanwhile, supporters of the MP have apprised local police and administrative officials of the matter.
