New Delhi, July 20: After the issue regarding the Mahanadi project was raised by Anang Uday Singhdeo in Rajya Sabha on Tuesday, for protesting the project work being constructed by Chhatisgarh in the upper catchment areas of Mahanadi, BJD MPs staged demonstrations at the Parliament premises on Wednesday.
They demanded serious intervention of Prime Minister, Narendra Modi in this matter; the BJD MPs were also seen protesting by holding placards near the statue of Mahatma Gandhi. The ruling party BJP supported the project because BJP is now in power in Chhattisgarh. Hence under such circumstances, BJD MP Narendra Pradhan said that the BJP party must be questioned for hurting the people of Odisha and gradually would lose its stand if it allows such a project to take place. The party is liable to have a thorough knowledge of its ramifications and the PM should discuss this with the Chhatisgarh Water resource Minister in order to resolve the problem or else they would have to face tuff consequences in the future.
To a surprise but, only 14 members out of 27 of the party were present at the protest venue which led to a sarcastic comment on the social media thus wondering why the others did not oppose the same.
