BJD students’ wing activists and BJB College students stage road blockade and lock College Principal inside college to protest against police excesses; demand immediate arrest of Badagada IIC

Bhubaneswar, Sep 16: Yesterday Odisha’s BJB college students staged road blockade near Kalpana Square here to protest against the police excesses in a group scuffle in the college. It’s stated that the scuffle arose between two students over the college elections on Aug 8. Some students had also been taken into custody in this regard. Protesting police excesses in the matter, several students today blocked the road in front of the college by burning tyres.

They also locked some lecturers inside classroom. Also the student activists of Odisha’s ruling BJD locked down the principal thus demanding action against the Badagada police that had arrested some of their fellow supporters on August 8. A student said that the IIC of the Badagada Police station, Suvendu Sinha acting as a BJP agent, did not arrests the students who are actually to be blamed and rather posing trouble to the members of the Biju Chhatra Janata Dal (BCJD). Giving a warning the student further added that if no action is been taken against the IIC then that will lead to worst cases in the coming days. The situation only improved after police intervention.

Notably, two student groups of the college belonging to Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) and Biju Chhatra Janata Dal (BCJD) had a face off on August 8 pertaining to a college election issue.  The police had arrested some of the students in connection with the incident that night.
