Bhubaneswar, Nov 13: In a bid to curb the farmer suicide cases in the Odisha, the ruling BJD government on Friday organised its first meeting over a farmers’ convention ‘Chasi Samabesa’.
The meeting decided to hold the first ‘Samabesa’ on November 19.
Senior BJD leader Prasanna Acharya said the ruling party will hold its first ‘Chasi Samabesa’ at Sohela on November 19 which be coordinated by senior leader Surya Narayan Patra.
Raising serious concern over the farmer deaths in the state, Acharya said the peasants need to be self-confident. The ‘Chasi Samabesa’ is aim to boost self-confidence of farmers, he added.
Lambasting Opposition over the farmer deaths, Acharya said the persons who are using this serious issue to gain political momentum are the enemy of the farmers. They are trying to create discrimination among common mass, Acharya stated
