BJD to hold signature campaign on Mahanadi issue on November 11

Bhubaneswar, Nov 7: BJD’s signature campaign and human chain campaign is likely to be held on November 11. The date has been announced by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday after attending a preparatory meeting at IDCOl auditorium. The campaign will be held to mark the protest against barrage construction on the upper catchment of Mahanadi River by the Chhattisgarh Government and the Centre’s support in this matter. As per the information, during the signature campaign, signatures of around 87 lakh families’ will be collected. Five lakh people will participate to make the 500 km long human chain which will start from Hirakud and conclude at Paradip. The human chain will pass through Sambalpur, Redhakhol, Angul, Dhenkanal, Cuttack and Tirtol.

After the campaign, a memorandum will be submitted to the President which will contain the collected signature, sources said.
