Bhubaneswar, Jan, 21: The ruling BJD has finally won the elections held for the newly formed Champua and Baliguda Notified Area Councils (NACs).
According to reports, the ruling party got absolute majority in both the NACs.
In Champua, the BJD candidates won from nine wards while the Independents got four. The Congress and BJP, two main oppositions, failed to open their accounts here.
In Baliguda, BJD nominees won from nine wards, while Congress and BJP candidates got three wards and one ward, respectively.
83 per cent voters had exercised their franchise in Champua while Baliguda registered a voter turnout of 74 per cent.
The new chairpersons of the two NACs will be held on February 4.
