Bhubaneswar, Aug 9: Inspection committee, consisting 12 members of BJD, headed by MP and BJD Vice President Prasanna Acharya, will be in Chhattisgarh today to conduct spot assessment of the projects that the neighbouring State has taken up on Mahanadi River, to analyse their effect on Odisha, the water inflow into the Hirakud dam and how far the Chhattisgarh government has abided to the guidelines, sources informed. The team reached Jharsuguda on Monday.
The team would discuss the matter with the Chhattisgarh Water Resources Department during the two-day visit.
The 12 member team comprises of the Ministers Debi Prasad Mishra, Pradeep Amat, Sanjay Dasburma, BJD parliamentarians and technical experts.
Meanwhile, protesting the team’s visit, black flags were shown by the BJP activists at Belpahad check post and around 10 activists were detained by the police.
Notably, the 12 Member BJD team will inspect Kelo and Arpa-Bhaisajhar projects and also seven other projects on Mahanadi River taken up by Chhattisgarh government.
