The nominee of ruling Biju Janata Dal Narendra Swain was today declared elected to the Rajya Sabha from Odisha.

He won uncontested as both Congress and Bhartiya Janata Party did not field any candidate.

The ruling BJD has a brute majority in the State Assembly with 107 seats and the victory of Swain was foregone conclusion.

The election was held to fill the void due to the death of Kalpataru Das.
