Bhubaneswar, Aug 11: By condemning the alleged attack on a BJD worker on Wednesday by Prashant Jagdev, Begunia MLA, the BJP has demanded the arrest of the MLA today.
Though Jagdev’s involvement in several assault cases has been registered earlier, the police have not yet taken any action against him, said Jatin Mohanty, BJP Sate Secretary to media people.
BJP workers were assaulted by the BJD MLA in Boudh and Puri and FIRs against him have been lodged. But police has still not arrested him, Mohanty further said.
Notably, BJD MLA from Begunia, Prashant Jagdev is alleged for assaulting a party co-worker, Sheikh Nijamuddin Khan of Taratua near Khordha, at the time of a Mahanadi Banchao Mahasangram Andolan at Saradhapur Chhak. A case was filed at the Khordha Town police station yesterday in this context. For inquiry into the incident, a BJP team would visit Taratua very soon.
However, Jagdev refuted the allegation and said that while he was in a procession, Nijamuddin came in violent mode and abused him by obstructing his vehicle. A case regarding this has been filed by Jagdev’s driver against Nijamuddin.
