Sambalpur, Apr 14: A recent development has revealed that today BJP leader and ex-MLA, Jaynarayan Mishra was arrested under Section 107 of CrPC as precautionary measure to maintain law and order in the city by the police. As per sources, Mishra has been arrested on the apprehension of breaching of peace and tranquility ahead of the procession to be taken out during Hanuman Jayanti celebrations here.

This arrest came in as a result of the demonstration that was staged by Mishra’s supporters against the cops when the latter had arrived at the party office here to detain their leader. They protested in a unique way by lying down on the ground and not letting the police arrest Mishra. Thus, the cops have now resorted to preventive detention to avoid any disruption in law and order situation during the Hanuman Jayanti processions here.

On the other hand, Jaynarayan stated that preventing them from from celebrating the Jayanti is a big setback for their own religious beliefs as they have been celebrating Hanuman Jayanti since 20 years or more but never they have experienced of being accused of breaking law and order situation while organising religious processions on occasion of Hanuman Jayanti. The DA had imposed prohibitory orders on the use of wielding swords and other weapons during the procession and so they had directed the Akhada parties not to display swords during the procession. But the cops are arbitrarily arresting us to dissuade us from the celebrations.
