Bihar Sharif/Patna, Feb 28: The opposition BJP and its NDA allies Saturday organised protests against the alleged police failure in nabbing RJD MLA Raj Ballabh Yadav in connection with a minor girl’s rape case and attacked Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for “protecting” the ruling party MLA.

In Bihar Sharif, the headquarter of Nalanda district where the alleged rape took place on February 9, senior BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi sat on dharna with other BJP and NDA allies leaders and workers.

Talking to reporters at the dharna venue near a hospital, Sushil Modi alleged that the RJD MLA was still out of reach of the police as he was enjoying “state protection.”

“Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is safeguarding the ruling party MLA otherwise it would not have been possible for him to continue to elude police for more than two weeks,” Sushil Modi, who is leader of Opposition in Legislative Council, alleged.

In capital Patna, the women wing of the BJP and allies Hindustani Awam Morcha, LJP and RLSP organised protest at state BJP office.

Former JD(U) minister and now a BJP leader Renu Kushwaha made a scathing attack at the CM over the MLA “remaining out of bound for police” despite the incident of rape taking place in CM’s home district of Nalanda.

A Nalanda court had last week gave 30 days to the absconding MLA to surrender.

The fugitive MLA has approached the Patna High Court for anticipatory bail. The HC is scheduled to hear his petition on coming Monday.
