Chennai, Feb 14: The BJP will decide about the alliance for the coming assembly elections in Tamil Nadu based on the emerging politicial situation in the state, senior party leader and Union Minister of State Pon Radhakrishnan said on Sunday.

“So far, we have not received any information from the party high command about alliance. We will study the political situation thoroughly and take a decision at the appropriate time,” he said.

He was responding to Congress and DMK forging an alliance for the Assembly polls.

He said the BJP was steadily emerging as “a strong party” in Tamil Nadu and would reach a position of forming government.

He urged the Election Commission to ensure prevention of money distribution to voters during the election by taking strong action.

“Otherwise the promise of the EC would remain only on paper,” he said.

To a question on Mahamaham festival, organised once in 12 years, in Kumbakonam in the district, he expressed hope that chief minister Jayalalithaa would focus on arranging security for the pilgrims expected to throng the town in the next 10 days.

Earlier, the minister declared open a photo exhibition on Mahamaham organised on the theme “Development Awakening”.
